Outlook #3: Encyclopedia of Deradicalization Modules in Indonesia

This outlook aims to provide a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the deradicalization process through visualization and gamification approaches. By using interactive elements and strong visual representations, this module is designed to enhance the effectiveness of information delivery to various audiences, including the general public, practitioners, and academics.
Background

Radicalization is a global challenge that broadly impacts social stability and national security. Deradicalization efforts often face obstacles in the form of limited understanding, psychological resistance, and a lack of engaging and easily understood educational methods.

In Indonesia, deradicalization programs have been implemented in various forms, but more innovative approaches are needed for deradicalization messages to be effectively received. Visualization and gamification serve as solutions to enhance engagement and interest in the learning process, making complex concepts in deradicalization easier to understand and internalize.

Objectives
  • Develop an interactive encyclopedia presenting deradicalization concepts with engaging visual approaches.
  • Increase public understanding of the dangers of radicalization and the importance of deradicalization through technology-based educational methods.
  • Provide a more engaging learning experience with gamification elements, such as simulations, interactive storytelling, and scenario-based challenges.
  • Facilitate collaboration between academics, practitioners, and the broader community in understanding and disseminating positive narratives about deradicalization.
Strategies and Approaches
  1. Interactive Visualization
  • Infographics and illustrations to simplify complex concepts.
  • Short animations and videos to explain the deradicalization process more dynamically.
  • Interactive maps to show patterns of radicalization spread and the success of deradicalization programs.
  1. Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Involve academics, security practitioners, and individuals who have undergone deradicalization to provide broader perspectives.
  • Use a participatory approach in material development by involving local communities.
Deliverables
  • An outlook containing deradicalization modules presented in an interactive visual and narrative format.
  • Educational videos, interactive animations, and infographics to support material delivery.
  • Materials that can be used by educational institutions and organizations working in the field of deradicalization.
